MUNRO ASSOCIATES was founded in May 1991 by the principal Lauchlan JM Munro Dip Arch Dip LD RIBA ARIAS CMLl as a successor practice to the partnership of Johnston and Munro (1986-1991). ON 1 MAY 2015 THE PRACTICE WAS INCORPORATED IN THAT OF McINNES GARDNER ARCHITECTS which practises from the same address in Glasgow. Lachie Munro continues as a Consultant to McInnes Gardner, www.mcinnesgardner.co.uk/
Munro Associates primarily worked across the disciplines of architecture and landscape. Each may stand alone, but together they allowed a more comprehensive and integrated approach to design problems.

The Practice had particular skills in the preparation of unusual and innovative development proposals, primarily in the environmental, residential and leisure sectors; these skills extend to historic building refurbishment and providing landscaping of calibre. The Practice prepared planning and feasibility studies which concisely appraised the opportunities, obstacles and costs of marginal and unconventional projects.

The primary concern of the Practice was to provide a service of the highest standard to clients and end users. The Principal was personally involved in all projects, assisted as necessary by others who shared a commitment to quality. The Practice was committed to continuing professional development and the maintenance and improvement of personal and professional skills.

From the outset the Practice philosophy was based on the following tenets -
• to ensure provision of a comprehensive professional service to meet client
  needs and ambitions; based on principles of quality and integrity;
• encourage the enhancement of the environment by dedication to good
  architecture and design;
• continue the programme of professional development;
• develop lasting relationships between the Practice and its clients; and
• to conduct business in such a way as to meet responsibilities to
  employees, clients, suppliers and the community.

Over the years the Practice built up a wide range of clients in the public and private sectors and has provided consultancy services for a wide range of building and landscape types, including Ministry of Defence establishments, housing (new build and refurbishment), health care, tourist developments and sport and recreation.
